McAfee Active Virus Defense is a suite of products that protects your desktops, Internet gateways, e-mail servers, and file servers from all types of viruses.

ProtectionPilot lets you manage it effortlessly. McAfee VirusScan protects your desktops and file servers. McAfee WebShield keeps viruses out of your Internet gateway. McAfee GroupShield covers your mail servers. McAfee NetShield protects your Netware file servers.

The proven anti-virus technology blends heuristics and generic information to identify both known and as yet undiscovered viruses. Updates are critical to effective virus protection and Active Virus Defense automatically downloads the latest virus-pattern data for continuous, up-to-date protection.

Active Virus Defence SMB

Active Virus Defence SMB edition is also available for a limited period.  The only difference between Enterprise and SMB version is the management console which is a scaled down version on the SMB version called Protection Pilot.

AVSS SMB will stop being sold as new in the US in July 2007.  McAfee will keep supporting the product for the time being, but end users are encouraged to either upgrade to Active Virus Defense (AVD) Enterprise edition or move to the managed Antivirus cover called Total Protection for Small Business.
